University of Central Florida

Founded in 1963, the University of Central Florida (UCF) is a public research university located in metropolitan Orlando. It is one of the largest universities spread across the United States covering close to 1,415 acres of land, of which 800 are natural wood and grassland that act as a natural habitat for the dozens of native species belonging to Florida. Apart from its main campus in Orlando, the University of Central Florida has over 10 regional campuses in locations including Ocala, South Lake, and Daytona Beach.

The University of Central Florida has been ranked among the nation’s 20 most innovative universities by U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 edition under the Best Colleges guidebook. The university has also been termed as one of the nation’s most affordable colleges by Forbes and rated as a best-value university by Kiplinger and The Princeton Review.

The university houses 13 colleges that deal with different areas of education. These include Burnett Honors College, College of Business Administration, College of Education and Human Performance, College of Graduate Studies, College of Health and Public Affairs, College of Medicine, College of Arts and Humanities, College of Engineering and Computer Science, College of Nursing, Rosen College of Hospitality Management, College of Sciences and Undergraduate Studies and College of Optics and Photonics. The university offers more than 220-degree programs from its main campus, downtown campus, hospitality campus, health sciences campus, online, and multiple regional locations.

Located in one of Florida’s major cities and most popular destinations, UCF is the largest university by enrollment in Florida with 68,571 students, including 58,913 undergraduates, 9,168 graduate students, and 490 M.D. students (Fall 2018). The academic session of University goes semester wise and has been classified as a 4-year Graduation University. The University benefits from a diverse faculty and staff who create a welcoming environment and provide opportunities for all students to grow, learn, and succeed. The university confers almost 17,000 degrees each year.

An expansive recreation and wellness centre is also available for students which include three climbing walls, an indoor track, and fitness equipment. Students at the university also get to enjoy games at the 10,000 seat arena and football stadium. Architecturally distinctive, one of the unique characters of this university is that it is constructed in concentric circles. The outermost periphery of the campus is called Gemini Blvd which opens to the main road and traffic of the university and it consists of Apollo Circle and Mercury Circle. The center of the campus is inside the Pegasus Circle where the student union resides, and all educational buildings are in the outer circle of Gemini which is divided into pie-shaped sections.

The university boasts a strong 250,000 alumni network made up of scientists, engineers, and creative geniuses.
