London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is an open research university founded by the members of Fabian Society, namely Graham Wallas, Beatric Webb, and Sydney Webb. Established in 1895, the university collaborated with the London University and introduced its first-degree course in 1901. Later in 2008, LSE awarded its own degree to the students. The main focus is on developing innovative ideas and research theories.
The campus of the university is located in Houghton. It participated in the ‘Green Impact’ scheme and won Gold medals in 2014 and 2016. Also, the campus features accommodation units for its students and faculty members. It ensures that students are provided with all the basic facilities required. Moreover, public conveyance is easily accessible from the campus. In addition, the Global Centre for Social Sciences is situated within the premises. Presently, the university is redeveloping and there are plans to construct the Department of Government and International Affairs building at the campus.
The university offers various courses through its Department of Economics, Department of Accounting, Department of Methodology, Department of Sociology, and others. Also, it offers specialized courses with subjects like statistics, philosophy, law, geography, environment, and mathematics. In addition, the university is visited by expert professionals that provide practical knowledge to the students. Also, the university participates in student exchange programs where its students get an opportunity to understand the academic structure of other universities.
