University of Wolverhampton

Affiliated with MillionPlus, the University of Wolverhampton is a highly-ranked public university in England with four campuses at West Midlands, Staffordshire, and Shropshire. The roots of the institution lie in 19th-century establishments named the Wolverhampton Tradesmen’s and Mechanics’ Institute and the Wolverhampton Free Library that offered general classes along with scientific, technical and commercial studies. It developed into a Technical College by 1926 and went through several structural and name changes over the years. It was granted the university status in the year 1992, under its current name.

The main university campus is at Wolverhampton city center in West Midlands and is known as the City Campus. Most of the academic departments, administrative offices, student support facilities, and three residence halls are located on this campus. The Millennium City Building houses a 300-seater lecture theatre, campus restaurant, exhibition gallery, social learning area and teaching space of 10,000 square meters. The Harrison Learning Centre houses libraries with both traditional and digital sources over four storeys. The Rosalind Franklin Building is the latest addition to the campus, which features scientific equipment and facilities for teaching and research. Arena Theatre features a 150-seater auditorium, 100-seater studio and a 50-seater seminar room, where numerous professional programs and community events are conducted. Other on-site facilities include a black box theatre, Chaplaincy, media store, dance labs, and IT services.

Telford Innovation Campus extends courses in engineering, computing, business, built environment and social work. Its six-storey Lord Swraj Paul Building consists of an executive learning suite, IT suite, cafeteria, central social space, consulting rooms, and innovative teaching spaces. The Walsall Campus in Staffordshire has facilities of music, dance, sports, events management, hospitality and tourism, health and education departments. It has the Student Village, which provides accommodation facilities to over 300 students. Sports Centre on the campus houses a swimming pool, practice halls, pitches, tracks and fitness suites.

The University of Wolverhampton is categorized into four faculties, housing 18 institutes and schools focusing on different subject areas. It offers more than 500 undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programs in arts, engineering, basic and social sciences, architecture, education, environmental studies, liberal arts, and management. The university is a vibrant community of students and staff belonging to diverse nationalities and ethnicities. About 23,166 students are pursuing various programs at the university, out of which 58.6% are females and 41.4 males. It has 1,152 academic instructors, 1,170 administrative staff members and 456 manual workers who work relentlessly towards ensuring high-quality education and clerical assistance.
