Salem Normal School was established in 1854 in Salem, Massachusettes. From there, it went on to be known as Salem Teachers College, Salem State College, and finally, Salem State University. The name of their athletic teams is Vikings and their colours are Blue and Orange. This university is spread across 115 acres of a land split amongst 6 campuses. There are around 33 buildings. The main campus, known as the North campus, is the largest one. It has 2 buildings, namely Frederick Meier Hall and Edward Sullivan Building. The Cat Cove Maritime Facility is on Salem Harbour. It provides hands-on experience to marine biology students. Earlier, this campus was used to study shellfish.
