Established in the year 1872, Maryville University is situated in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Started as a school, it was converted into a junior college which later received college status in 1923 and was called Maryville College of the Sacred Heart. It was elevated to a co-educational establishment in 1968 and by June of 1991, Maryville was granted a university status to offer higher educational facilities. The university is officially certified with the Higher Learning Commission.
Maryville University has a total enrolment of around 10,200 students. The university maintains six colleges and schools offering a broad range of undergraduate, graduate and doctorate programs. Statistically, the university offers education through more than 90 degrees to learners from all the 50 states and 58 countries. Apart from this, it provides more than 30 online graduate and undergraduate programs. Also, 93 percent of students here are offered full-time financial aid to continue research and study. Moreover, the standard size of the classes at the university is 15 students. Notably, 90 percent of the teaching staff at the university holds a Ph.D. or other terminal degrees.
Apart from educational facilities, there are several other services offered to the students of the university. Saints are the Maryville athletic teams that participate at various levels, including the popular NCAA Division II level. Furthermore, the university maintains a library that contains over a quarter of one million volumes in addition to collections of reference works, databases and periodicals.
It comes with an alumni association that works to foster a spirit of togetherness among alumni to strengthen the progressing bond between the university and its graduates. The university has successfully offered professional degrees to a large number of students and maintains a connection with over 20,000 alumni and current/former students. Its alumni are now associated with some of the leading organizations and working in and outside the nation. Also, the university is recognized for offering a 97 percent graduate job placement rate.
