Luther College

Established in 1861, Luther College is a private institution which mainly focuses on liberal arts studies. It is associated with Phi Beta Kappa and the Associated Colleges of the Midwest. The institute began its classes with only 16 students. Later on, the number of enrolments increased as the institute grew at rapid growth. In 1878, the concert band was developed by the music director. The band went for several tours in Europe and earned international acclaim for their musical talent.

The college spread the learning and understanding of the modern concept of liberal arts education. It began admitting female students in 1936 and became a co-educational institution. In 1960, the institute began developing new campuses. The institute’s museum which is now separated from the campus is among the largest museums in the United States and known to have a huge collection of artefacts.

The university campus is extended over an area of 200 acres. It comprises a few houses, townhouses, apartments and seven residential halls, namely Ylvisaker Hall, Miller Hall, Farwell Hall, Dieseth Hall, Brandt Hall, Olson Hall and Larsen Hall. The campus provides all the required facilities to the students. They experience a calm learning atmosphere at the campus. The institute also features an 800-acre land that covers the biological studies department and the environmental research centre. All the competitions, inter-college competitions, annual functions, seminars, quizzes, events and fests conducted by the college are held within the campus. In addition, the campus is set nearby many cafes and restaurants. Several general stores and medical shops are close to the campus.

The university has a total strength of about 2,337 students. The academic structure of the institute includes a number of subjects like biology, chemistry, anthropology, computer science, economics, data science, environmental studies, management, neuroscience, nursing, philosophy, physics, social work, sociology, theatre and political science. The students learn under skilled faculty members. Many industry professionals visit the institute for guest lectures, interactive sessions and practical workshops. The students also get an opportunity to work as interns at notable organisations under professionals. They can also visit the research centre within the premises to gain exposure and learn about fieldwork. Moreover, the institute offers financial support to the students who belong to a low financial background. They must have a good academic performance.
