Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest and most versatile fields of the engineering profession
The mechanical engineering curriculum is designed to prepare graduate students in many applied fields, including such important areas as energy conversion, combustion engines, emissions controls, vehicle dynamics and design, machine tool design, biomechanics, manufacturing, structural analysis, automatic controls, continuum mechanics, fluid dynamics, acoustics and noise control
Students learn about energy conversion, combustion engines, emissions controls, and vehicle dynamics and design
Graduates are introduced to machine tool design, biomechanics, manufacturing, structural analysis, and automatic controls
The master’s degree in mechanical engineering is offered under the following options: Thesis option or Course-work option
Graduate students must select a field of study in one of the three thrust areas of the ME Department:
- Noise and Vibration Control
- Advanced Materials and Manufacturing
- Advanced Propulsion and Energy Systems

Class 12th	No specific cutoff mentioned
Bachelors	No specific cutoff mentioned Students who earn 3.0/4.0 GPA or higher in their BSME degree program, may be recommended for regular admission Students who earn 2.8 - 3.0 GPA in their BSME degree program, will be considered on a case by case basis Students must complete the equivalent of a U.S. four-year degree, including all state and external/internal examinations required for the degree All students must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a very similar field. Applicants without a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering are considered on a case-by-case basis

Additional info	All applicants for the MSME program whose B.S. degree is not from an ABET-accredited university are encouraged (but not required) to submit scores of the Graduate Record Examination
