The University of North Florida known as UNF is a public university in Jacksonville, Florida established in 1965. It is one of the 12 public universities in the State University System of Florida. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredit it. It is organized into five colleges that offer 53 undergraduate degree programs and 28 graduate degree programs. In the 2017 to 2018 school year, UNF awarded 117 doctoral degrees including 109 professional doctorates and eight research doctorates. Doctoral programs are offered through the Brooks College of Health at UNF that include Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition, BSN-DNP in Family Nurse Practitioner, BSN-DNP in Nurse Anesthetist, Post-MSN Doctor of Nursing Practice, Post-MSN Doctor of Nursing Practice in Psych-Mental Health and Doctor of Physical Therapy. The College of Education and Human Services offers doctoral degrees in Specialist in Educational Leadership and Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership.
College of Arts and Sciences has an enlistment of 6,570 students, making it the biggest college by enrollment at UNF. Academic departments incorporate art and design, biology, chemistry, physics, communication, criminology and criminal justice, English, history, mathematics and statistics, music, philosophy, political science and public administration, psychology, sociology and anthropology, and World Languages.
Coggin College of Business is one of UNF’s three unique colleges. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) approved the programs of the college. The school is home to 90 faculty and staff and 3,188 students. Undergrad programs are offered in accounting, economics, finance, financial services, international business, management, marketing, and transportation and logistics. It consists of the School of Computing, School of Engineering, and Department of Construction Management and total enrollment stood at 2,025 students.
College of Education and Human Services offers a bachelor of science in sport management. The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools authorized it. The student enlistment is 1,815. Brooks College of Health offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition, and a Bachelor of Science in Health. It also offers master’s degree programs in nursing, nutrition, public health, health administration, science rehabilitation, counseling, and clinical mental health counseling. They also offer doctorate programs in nursing (DNP) and physical therapy (DPT).
The University of North Florida offers grants for incoming students and students from other schools at the undergrad level. UNF focuses on helping students finance their advanced degrees. Some of them are Freshman Scholarships, Commitment Scholarships, International Scholarships, and Study Abroad Scholarships.
Some notable alumni are Janet H. Adkins is a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives, Felipe Andrés Aguilar Schuller is a Chilean professional golfer who has won over 30 events in Chile, and W. Travis Cummings is a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives.
