The University of Melbourne

The University of Melbourne was founded by Hugh Culling Eardley Childers in 1853. It is the second oldest university of higher education and research. It is ranked among the top universities in Australia. The University of Melbourne is dedicated to providing a practical experience more than just structured learning. Being one of the most progressive research universities, it features excellent staff that make new discoveries and researches.

Within the premises, there are 11 separate academic institutions, which include research institutes like Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, Walter and Eliza Institute of Medical Research, and Grattan Institute. The students of the university have the opportunity to learn about all subjects before choosing a particular subject of their field of interest.

The present Melbourne University Sports association is the successor of the previous Melbourne Sports Union. The University has participated in various sports programmes as well including National Cycling competitions. The University also established a Tennis Club for its staff and students.

The Melbourne University features an Accelerator Programme to boost up the skills of the students. The programme includes public events, workshops, feeder programmes and connection to the entrepreneurs on-stage. This programme handles big problems of medical devices and hardware, web solutions, technology and software. The accelerator programme has been mentioned in a global list of top 25 incubators produced by the University Business Incubator Index.
