SAIT (The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) is located in Calgary, Canada, and there are 11,023 full-time students enrolled there, along with 1,270 part-time students. SAIT is a polytechnic institute that offers more than 100 career programs in business, trades and technology. It is a member of Polytechnics Canada and it is one of Alberta’s Top 50 employers. It was established in 1916 and it is Calgary’s second oldest institute that is post-secondary. It is Canada’s first technical institute that has been funded publicly.

Apart from the main campus in Calgary the institute has three other campuses in Centre Avenue (Maryland Heights), Stephen Avenue (Culinary Campus) and Calgary International Airport (Art Smith Aero Centre). Scholarships can be received in case of academic success, community involvement and financial needs. The college offers skill-oriented pedagogy to students through eight schools, among which are School of Transportation, MacPhail School of Energy and School of Business, among others.

Notable alumni are Robert Alford (politician), Ken Allred (politician), Evan Berger (politician), Kaella Carr (television news person), among others. There are many facilities of the university, including residences, and they have two modern high-rise buildings that are located in the northeast corner of the main campus. Both the residential towers will feature four different floor plans and will have amenities such as fully-furnished units, high-speed internet, kitchenettes, and 24-hour security and study lounges.

Besides, on the campus, students have access to coffee house, Jugo Juice, bar, fitness centre, gymnasium, squash courts, bowling alley, hockey arena, theatre and saltwater pool. The Stan Grad Centre is the central building on the campus of the university that houses food-service outlets, classrooms, study areas, library and the campus bookstore. SAIT or the university has been a member of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference since 1964.
