The Juilliard School

Established in 1905, The Juilliard School is a world leader in performing arts education. The school’s mission is to provide the highest caliber of artistic education for gifted musicians, dancers, and actors from around the world so that they may achieve their fullest potential as artists, leaders, and global citizens. Located at Lincoln Center in New York City, Juilliard offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in dance, drama (acting and playwriting), and music (classical, jazz, historical performance, and vocal arts).

Currently, more than 800 artists from 44 states and 42 countries and regions are enrolled at Juilliard, where they appear in over 700 annual performances in the school’s five theaters; at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully and David Geffen halls, and at Carnegie Hall; as well as other venues around New York City, the country, and the world. Beyond its New York campus, Juilliard is defining new directions in global performing arts education for a range of learners and enthusiasts through The Tianjin Juilliard School and K-12 educational curricula.

For over a century, students have enrolled in The Juilliard School and graduated to fulfill their dreams in the performing arts. Dancers, actors, playwrights, classical and jazz musicians—all have come here to hone their craft and deepen their artistry. A career in the arts is challenging, but the only way to make it happen is to risk: To risk-taking that audition, creating that work of art, exposing who you are.

From the first moment students arrive on campus, they are made to feel welcome and included. Full participation in campus life is considered an integral part of The Juilliard School experience. Therefore, the Office of Student Affairs staff is committed to promoting learning and growth beyond the classroom, providing support networks, creative programs, social activities, leadership opportunities, and cultural diversity events for the student body.

Juilliard has developed an extensive network of services to ensure the health and well-being of its students and to nurture their artistic, intellectual, and personal growth. The school has an illustrious list of notable alumni including, Viola Davis – American actress, Kevin Spacey – American actor, Jessica Chastain – American actress, Robin Williams – American actor, Patti LuPone – American actress, Val Kilmer – American actor, Christine Baranski – American actress, Andre Braugher – American actor, Christopher Reeve – American actor, Laura Linney – American actress, and Itzhak Perlman – American-Israeli Violinist among several others.
