SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University Downstate is a public medical school and hospital in New York City. It is a part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and the main academic medical center for health education, research, and patient care. SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is the only academic medical center in Brooklyn. The upper-division transfer and post-baccalaureate programs give professional education to future health experts in majors, for example, BS in nursing, RN-BS, diagnostic medical imaging, physical therapy, and physician assistant. It offers MS degree programs in adult-gerontology, pediatric clinical nurse specialists, nurse anesthesia, nurse-midwifery and nurse practitioner, occupational therapy, medical informatics, and public health. School of Public Health, The first new school set up at SUNY Downstate since 1966, the School of Public Health was established in 2001 as an MPH degree program within the Department of Preventive Medicine and Community Health in the College of Medicine. In 2008, it pronounced school status and was completely licensed by the Council on Education for Public Health in 2010. It currently offers five master’s and three doctoral programs, as well as combined degree programs.
