The State University of New York College of Optometry is a government-funded school of optometry in New York City. It offers degrees in the areas of optometry and vision science. The Doctor of Optometry (OD) is a four-year professional programme, after undergrad school. Students entering the programme have majored in the natural sciences at the undergraduate level. Quickened acceptance is accessible through select undergrad colleges. Doctors of Optometry are viewed as the primary providers of eye care, giving treatment to ocular diseases, recommending glasses and contact lenses and treating patients with an assortment of conditions that influence the patient’s capacity to function effectively in their daily lives. The SUNY College of Optometry offers several degree programmes: The professional doctoral certificate in optometry or OD programme, The Master of Science or MS in Vision Science, which might be taken alone or as a consolidated degree with the OD, or with a two-year clinical residency in clinical optometry, The Doctor of Philosophy or PhD in Vision Science, which might be taken alone or with a two-year residency in clinical optometry and it also offers Non-degree programmes. Students can procure a certificate and pursue an MBA in business management or management initiative through the joint programme with SUNY Empire State College. This programme is available to students enrolled in the OD programme and graduated ODs.

 The college offers optometric residency education through 16 clinical residency programmes. The college has an assortment of International Programmes for optometry students and optometrists. The college offers Continuing Professional Education for optometrists through unique programmes, lectures and online learning. Directed by the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Office of Student Affairs complements the academic and professional mission of the college with the improvement of student learning and professional advancement being the essential objective of its programmes and services.

Office of Student Affairs is responsible for student recruitment and admissions, monetary guide, student registration and records, individual and academic advising and a wide scope of student exercises and initiatives. The office further serves as a focal point of advocacy for students in every aspect of student life, both in and outside of the academic and clinical educational plan.
