Founded in the year 1871, SUNY Buffalo State has received accreditations from many reputed organizations, including the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. In the year 1873, the first batch of students graduated from this college, and in 1888, a new science building was constructed on the campus. The prestigious Centre for Health and Social Research was established in the year 1997. Presently, the athletics department of this college has earned the NCAA Division III.
