Springfield College

The Springfield College, also known as SC, was founded in the year 1885 as the School for Christian Workers. But, it was later converted into a college named ‘Springfield’. The college offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, diploma, distance education, skill training and development, and short-term training programs in various streams and fields of education.

It is a private institution located in Springfield in Massachusetts. SC has a total of six regional campuses, not including Springfield, located across the U.S., including Boston in Massachusetts, Houston in Texas, Milwaukee in Wisconsin, St. Johnsbury in Vermont, Tampa in Florida, and Wilmington in North Carolina. The main campus is located in New England, on the shores of Lake Massasoit. SC’s expansive campus includes the famous East Campus which features an area of 57 acres. Approximately 4100 students, including 2,500 full-time undergraduate students, study at its campuses. Springfield College was placed on the 25th position for Best Regional Universities by US News and World Report, which marked the seventh consecutive year for SC to feature in the rankings. SC was also awarded the Presidential Award in the category of education in the year 2016. The college is also amongst the top three institutions in the U.S. to award the maximum number of bachelor’s degrees to African-Americans.

SC is comprised of four different schools and academic departments which are the School of Health Sciences, School of Physical Education, Performance, and Sports Leadership, the School of Art and Sciences, and The School of Social work and Behavioral Sciences. The most popular majors among students are Sport and Fitness Administration and Management, Physical Therapy, and Physical Education Teaching and Coaching. The placement cell in the institute trains students for placement drives. The college also conducts various programs to hone the skills possessed by students. It has MoUs and partnerships with various companies and considering placement, the college has a good record. All the faculties and staff members at the college are highly trained and experienced. Regarding alumni, most of them are from the field of sports.

Some of the well-known alumni of the college are Harold Amos, John Cena, Mark Banker, Vaughn Blanchard, Nancy Darsch, Tony DiCicco, and the 1984 Olympic gold medalist Jeff Blatnick.
