Southwestern Law School is located in the lively city of Los Angeles in California, U.S.A. The Southwestern Law School is an autonomous institution with its history dating back to 1911. The law school was started to reach out to women and minorities and is the second oldest law school in Los Angeles. The campus of the Law School includes the Bullocks Wilshire building, which is an art deco heritage building of the state.

The Southwestern Law School has a 53% bar passing rate. Southwestern Law School is the sole American Bar Association-approved law school offering four programs of study, that result in a J.D. degree, varying in planning and instructional methodology. Notwithstanding customary full-time programs and part-time evening programs, Southwestern has created two innovative alternatives: PLEAS, one of the only part-time day programs in the nation intended to address the needs of students with children or senior care responsibilities and SCALE, a distinctive two-year J.D. course of guidance with a unique methodology. SCALE is the first ABA-affirmed program of its sort in the U.S., highlighting classes of small capacities and practical skill training. Southwestern additionally offers simultaneous J.D./M.B.A. degree programs with The Drucker Graduate School of Management.

The Southwestern Law School also offers LL.M programs. There are two categories in this program, one is a General LL.M and the other one is an LL.M in Entertainment and Media Law. The Southwestern Law School has three notable in-house law publications, namely Southwestern Law Review, Southwestern Journal of International Law, and Journal of International Media and Entertainment Law

The Southwestern Law School aims at providing personal financial assistance to its students through scholarships, loans and work-study programs. Financial need and scholastic achievements are put into consideration while issuing scholarships. The law school has an online job portal called Symplicity where students can access a number of employment options to apply for and consider. The Southwestern Law School boasts a number of distinguished alumni. Tom Bradley, the 38th Mayor of Los Angeles is an alumnus of Southwestern Law School. Marcia Clark, the lead prosecutor in the O.J. Simpson murder case is also an alumnus of the Southwestern Law School.
