Established in 1987, Southern California Institute of Technology offered a programme in Electronics/Computer Technology. Today, the institute has 6 academic divisions focusing on Engineering and Technology. In 1994, the institute was accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. In the same year, the US Department of Justice permitted it to admit foreign students. In recent years, the college has introduced a number of new programmes. In 2013, it was shifted to its current location in the Southern California city of Anaheim. The campus spans across 40,000 square feet, comprises 20 modern classrooms and 12 instructional labs. Its close proximity to Freeway 5 and other highways make commuting easy for those living around Orange County.
The college offers many degree programmes which include A.S Industrial Engineering Technology, B.S. Biomedical Engineering, B.S Electrical Engineering, B.S Electronic Engineering and B.S Information Systems. Students can choose to do short-term programmes such as Biomedical Technology, Information Technology and General Electrician.
The institute focuses on grounding students in academics while giving them ample opportunity to learn real-world skills and put them to use. The college has a number of labs that allow students to explore their skills. Students’ lab facilities include Robotics and Automation, Residential Wiring, Commercial Wiring, Electric Motors, Solar Power, Pneumatics, Programmable Logic Controller, Digital and Analog Electronics, Engineering Design Projects, Computer Networking and Biomedical Instrumentations. Students of select streams can work on Senior Capstone Projects at the end of their studies. Recent student projects include an automatic tennis ball launcher, a garage parking assistant, automatic record flipper, a hands-free hair dryer among many others
