Southeastern University

Established in 1935, Southeastern University is a private institution which majorly focuses in the field of liberal arts. It began the classes with only 17 students and four faculty members and in 1937, the university offered its first diploma degrees for a two-year academic program. Earlier, the university was known as Beulah Heights Institute. In 1956, the institution began offering the four-year bachelor’s degree program. Later on, in 2005, the university awarded its first master’s degree programs, developing the colleges of arts, science, and business. In 2014, the university began its first doctoral-level program. Over the years, the number of enrolments grew and by 2015, the number of students at the university was over 4,538 students. The university also added a nursing program. The logo of the university is colored in a combination of black and red. It says, ‘Transforming minds, engaging culture’.

The campus of the university is spread over an area of about 88 acres. It comprises residence halls that could accommodate two to eight students in a room. All the residence halls feature dining space. The campus offers various facilities to its students. It offers safety & security, career services and counseling, and health & wellness. All the events, fests, competitions and quizzes organized by the university, take place within the premises. The campus is nearby to many restaurants and cafes. Also, some stationery shops, departmental stores, and chemist shops are located close to the campus for the students’ convenience. The students are provided with all the facilities required at the campus. The university organizes all its events, fests and competitions within the premises.

The total strength of the university is about 7,000 students. The academic structure of the university consists of six colleges, namely College of Business & Entrepreneurial Leadership, the College of Arts & Media, the College of Education, College of Christian Ministries & Religion, College of Behavioural & Social Sciences and the College of Natural & Health Sciences. The university offers an undergraduate degree program, postgraduate degree program and doctoral level programs. Also, it avails online programs. The central library of the university holds up to a collection of about 1,00,000 books, journals, and 32,000 electronic books. The institution allows the students for electronic access at the library. Also, the library contains over 1,300 compact discs for research-related studies. The sports team of the university is named ‘Fire’. The team is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
