Founded in 1993, South Texas College is a public community college in Texas. It offers degree, certificate and associate degree programmes in multiple disciplines. It is the single community college in the province of Texas that offers five baccalaureate degrees. The college is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Further, South Texas College is affiliated to the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges, Association of Texas Colleges and Universities, Alliance for Community College Innovation (ACCI), Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE) and others.
South Texas College maintains five campuses including Pecan Campus in McAllen, Mid-Valley Campus in Weslaco, Technology Campus in McAllen, Starr County Campus in Rio Grande City and Ramiro R. Casso Nursing & Allied Health Campus in McAllen. Also, the college has a virtual campus and two higher education centres in Pharr and La Joya. The bachelor programmes are offered in Technology Management, Medical & Health Services Management, Organisational Leadership, Computer & Information Technologies and Nursing. The associate degree and certificate programmes are offered in the fields of Business & Technology, Math & Science, Nursing & Allied Health, Social & Behavioural Sciences, Liberal Arts and Public Safety. The business programs offered at the college are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
South Texas College focuses on the overall growth of students. Sports and athletics meet, recreational programmes, cultural fests and social awareness and community development workshops are organised by the college.
