Saint Vincent College

Saint Vincent College was founded in 1846 by Benedictine monks led by Boniface Wimmer, who became the first Archabbot of Saint Vincent Archabbey, now the largest Benedictine archabbey in the world. Benedictine values have taken shape in a number of initiatives that reflect the Benedictine value of stewardship or care for the earth and all of God’s gifts.

Saint Vincent College offers more than 50 undergraduate majors and 9 graduate and professional programs and it is organized into three schools. Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics, and Government includes the departments of Business, Criminology, Law and Society, and Politics and Public Affairs. The school’s majors include Accounting, Business Education, Criminology, Law and Society, Economics; Entrepreneurship, Finance, International Business, Management, Marketing. The McKenna School also offers master’s programs in Management: Operational Excellence.

The School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences includes the departments of Anthropology, Communication, Education, English, History, Liberal Arts, Modern and Classical Languages, Music, Philosophy, Psychological Science, Sociology, Theology, and Visual Arts. The Herbert W. Boyer School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Computing offer undergraduate and graduate students a rigorous, integrated curriculum grounded in the founding principles of the Catholic and Benedictine tradition. It includes the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computing and Information Science, Mathematics, and Physics. Majors are also offered in Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, and Environmental Science. Also, cooperative programs with other institutions of higher education enable students to pursue degrees in engineering, occupational therapy, nursing, and pharmacy.

Saint Vincent College also offers students support outside of the classroom, including individualized attention for freshmen, innovative programming for all students, worship services, student leadership opportunities, community service projects, career planning, health, and wellness support, and a commitment to a safe and comfortable campus environment. It has more than 50 student clubs, honor societies, and affinity groups. The college also gives various financial opportunities to first-year recruits and students from other schools and returning undergraduates. Numerous awards are given based on academic merit and specific selection criteria. The first-year students for 2020 multi-year will be granted scholarships dependent on test scores and high school grade point average, just as housing status and other criteria. Grants depend on full-time enrollment.
