Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico (PUPR) is a private, non-profit, co-educational higher education establishment founded in September 1966.
The main campus is situated in San Juan, Puerto Rico, at the Hato Rey Ward, very near the Golden Mile Zone. The main academic disciplines include Engineering, Geomatic Sciences, Architecture, Computer Sciences, and Business Administration. Currently, it is the biggest private Engineering School in Puerto Rico and the only one in the district of San Juan. It is additionally the biggest private Hispanic Serving Engineering School in the United States and its regions. In 2001 and 2003, the University opened new campuses in the cities of Miami and Orlando, Florida, respectively.
PUPR offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Land Surveying, and Mapping and Computer Science, Bachelor of Business Administration degrees in Accounting, Construction Management, General Management, and Marketing. The foundation likewise offers a Bachelor in Architecture. The Bachelor’s qualification program in Architecture is authorized by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). In its history, PUPR has awarded 8,591 bachelor degrees and 1,993 master degrees.
The Centre of Academic Progress (CPU, Centro de Progreso Universitario) was built in 2002 as a major aspect of the activities identified with the title ‘V venture’. It works as a team with the academic departments and the Dean of Arts and Sciences, and with advisors and subject facilitators, who serve as links between tutors and professors.
