Oglethorpe University

Oglethorpe University was established in the year 1835. The university actually started its operations only in the year 1838 with just four faculties. After the establishment of the Oglethorpe University, the town of Georgia witnessed its first wave of evening classes. The civil war forced the university to close its gates, with its buildings being utilized as hospitals. The university was re-chartered in the year 1913. In 1915, the building blocks for the campus were laid at Atlanta, where the university still stands tall and proud. The Oglethorpe University finds a place on The Registry of Historic Places in Georgia.

Oglethorpe University is Atlanta’s only co-educational small private college, home to more than 1300 eclectic and engaged students from 33 states and 31 countries.
