Established in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1964 as a small college with some revolutionary ideas, NSU was originally named Nova University of Advanced Technology and chartered as a graduate institution in the physical and social sciences. In 1994, Nova University merged with Southeastern University of Health Sciences to form Nova Southeastern University. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
Nova Southeastern University is a private university with its primary campus in Davie, Florida. The university comprises 18 colleges and schools offering more than 150 programs of study. The university offers professional degrees in sociology, law, business, osteopathic medicine, allopathic medication, pharmacy, optometry, physical therapy, education, occupational therapy, and nursing. In July 2014, the Division of Student Affairs (DOSA) rebuilt its association to invite the recently established College of Undergraduate Studies (COUS) together, the division and the school play a critical role in the One NSU vision, furnishing the NSU students with co-curricular learning openings and services that are conducive for student development and advancement.
Shark Pride is a campus-wide activity named after the mascot, Razor the Shark-that encourages a feeling of pride in Nova Southeastern University and greater participation among students, workforce, and staff. NSU researchers are occupied with energizing interdisciplinary research activities to make discoveries and produce new knowledge in healthcare, biotechnology, life sciences, environment, and social sciences. NSU workforce is utilizing more than $107 million in externally provided funding to work on projects that advance the college’s mission of research, academic excellence, and public service. They are working on several fundamental, applied and clinical research activities to improve patient care, make new drug discoveries, reduce mental health disorders, and examine the forces that impact our oceans.
