The Mount Carmel College of Nursing is a private institute that is primarily concerned with providing education on nursing and science. It was established in 1903 by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, from Notre Dame, Indiana. It had a vision of providing high-quality nursing education to the local students. The institute launched the Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1990. Under the leadership of President/Dean Emeritus Ann Schiele, Ph.D., RN, the institute continued growth in terms of its faculty members, students, and infrastructure.

The primary aim of the institute is to develop their students’ community, both professionally and academically, to become socially responsible nurses who promote healthcare services. The institute has two campuses in Ohio – Columbus, and Lancaster.

The main campus in Columbus consists of modern classrooms, a library, faculty offices, a gym, lounge, computer labs, learning centers, meeting rooms, an auditorium, and an additional classroom space. The student residence complex consists of fully furnished apartments that are equipped with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, and kitchen. The campus offers both undergraduate and graduate courses. The satellite campus at Lancaster offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) course to students. As a part of the program, the students have general education subjects such as Science, English or Humanities in their first year, which is followed by coursework of nursing, clinical courses, theory and selected science and general education subjects in their second, third and fourth year.

The vibrant campus consists of skills lab, simulation labs, cafes, MCCN corners, and the Fairfield Medical Center Cafe. The various courses offered by the institute include Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science Programmes in Nursing Leadership – Clinical Operations, Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner, and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) course. Online UG, PG, and doctoral programs are also available for working professionals who want to enhance their educational qualifications. The Higher Learning Commission has accredited the college. The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education has also accredited the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in nursing, the DNP degree and the PG APRN certificate.

Located in Columbus, USA, the institute provides employment opportunities to students at the campus in the form of nursing and faculty positions. Both didactic and clinical teaching opportunities are available in the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degrees. Candidates having previous experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate degrees are strongly advised to apply for these positions. The college offers opportunities for students to complete their coursework faster. This is made possible through the Advanced Placement Program (APP), where the students pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing within 5 semesters. For enrollment in the APP, the students will have to complete the nursing curriculum with a grade of above C. This is for freshman and sophomore courses.

The institute also offers scholarships to the meritorious students to support them financially. The Presidential Scholarship offers students an amount of $3000 for the sophomore year and $4000 for their senior year. Another scholarship called the Eleanor Wilson Recruitment Scholarship awards students of the first year an amount of $1200. The college provides the MCCN Book Grant for providing financial aid to students. The eligible students will be notified by the institute. The college is able to provide many other scholarships to students due to the generous donations and support of the donors. Enrolled students are eligible for scholarships such as Graduate Scholarship Availability, RN/BSN Scholarship Availability, SDAP Scholarship Availability, Rising Sophomore Scholarship Availability, and Rising Senior Scholarship Availability.
