Morgan State University

Morgan State University (MSU) was started in the year 1867 with the original aim to educate the younger generation about the ideologies. Subsequently, it extended its mission by educating both men and women. In 1890, the school was named Morgan College in memory of the first president of its board of trustees, Reverend Lyttleton Morgan, who donated land to the institution. In 1895 Morgan awarded George F. McMechen his first baccalaureate degree. McMechen later graduated from Yale with a law degree and subsequently moved to Baltimore, where he became a political figure and one of Morgan’s biggest financial supporters. In 1939, in response to a state report that concluded Maryland had to have more opportunity for its Black residents; the State of Maryland acquired the academy.

Morgan has been open to students of all ethnicities since its start as a college university. The college had been a comparatively robust enterprise by the time it became a public campus. Morgan offers baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degree programs. Morgan registers more than 7,698 pupils. Recently, the emphasis has been laid on the university’s urban orientation. This voice was integrated into graduate programs. The university is offering a Master of Arts, Master of Business Management, Master of Science, Doctor of Education, Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Engineering, and Doctor of Public Health at the graduate level.

MSU maintains a healthy 13:1 ratio of students and teachers which ensures that each student gets the personal attention of the teachers. This also makes sure that they get quality education from well-qualified professors. Morgan State University ensures that no student has to compromise on education due to financial troubles, hence they provide financial aid to those who need it. Such awards are open to current and continuing Morgan students on a selective basis, and are based on requirements and academic performance.

Scholarships are offered to freshmen with high SAT scores and merit grade point averages in high school. Athletic grants are made available o intercollegiate athletic teams for selected participants. The U.S. offers four-year ROTC Military scholarships. These scholarships cover all expenses of tuition, laboratory fees, and books. It also provides a monthly allowance of $100.
