Established in the year 1946, Montgomery College is a reputable educational institution. It serves more than 54,000 students. The college offers a number of programs, majors and degrees; credit courses; noncredit courses and online programs & degrees. Not only university-level studies but also online courses are provided for high school students. Also, there are summer programs, school year programs and piano lessons too.
The principal departments of study at the college are Business & Hospitality; Chemical, Biological & Physical Sciences; Communications & the Arts; Computer & Information Technology; Criminal Justice, Humanities & Social Sciences; Design & Graphics; Digital Design & Web Development; Education & Teaching; Emergency Preparedness & Fire Services; Engineering & Math; Nursing & Health Sciences; and Trade & Applied Technologies. It maintains 3 campuses – one in Rockville, Germantown and Takoma Park/Silver Spring.
The college conducts the Orientation session. There are Assessment Centers and Testing, and advising and planning facilities. It also offers Academic Support Services along with Student Career and Employment Services. DSS or Disability Support Services are also available.
There exists the Student Health and Wellness Center and Public Safety Awareness Programs. Service Learning and Civic Engagement facilities are also available. Dining and catering services are also commendable. The TRIO Program, Macau Partnership, Global Peace and Justice Studies, MD CC Facilities Planners Council, India Initiative, and The Paul Peck Humanities Institute all are examples of the innovative and global approach of the institution. There is even Center for Early Education and Engineers without Borders-Montgomery College Student Chapter.
The Merit Based Scholarship Schemes of the college include Montgomery Scholars Scholarship, Board of Trustees (BOT) Scholarship, MBI Scholarship program, Honors Program, etc. Apart from these, there are Merit and Financial Need Based Scholarships like Montgomery College Foundation Scholarship and Board of Trustees Student Tuition Grants. There are also Alumni Scholarships and NSF Grants.
