Midland College began its operations as an independent junior college in 1975. The head campus of this college is situated in North Garfield, Midland, Texas, the U.S. This university offers degrees and certificates in fields of study such as arts, humanities and communications, business, computer information technology, energy, transportation and industry, health and wellness, public service and education, social-behavioural sciences, science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In Arts, Humanities & Communications, there are sub-specialisations such as drama, English, modern & classical languages, music, philosophy, speech and visual arts.

Under the specialisation of business, there are sub-specialisations such as accounting, bachelor of applied technology, business administration and real estate. Under energy, transportation and industry, there are air conditioning, heating and refrigeration technology, automotive technology, aviation maintenance technology and welding technology. Under health and wellness, there is alcohol and drug abuse counselling, bachelor of applied science, biology, cosmetology, emergency medical services, respiratory care and sonography. Under computer information technology, there are business systems, computer-aided drafting and design, computer science, health information management, and information technology.

Under public service and education, there is child development and early childhood, criminal justice/law enforcement, education, emergency medical services, fire science technology and paralegal. Under Social and Behavioral Sciences, there is Anthropology, Geography/Global Studies, Government, History, Psychology and Sociology. This institute also offers adult and development education which comprises programs such as English as a second language (ESL), GED/ Texas Certificate of High School (TXCHSE) classes and student success.

This college also has continuing education in which there are community programs, workforce training and health sciences CE. Inside community programs, there are college classics, kids’ college and personal enrichment. In the workforce training, there is a Law Enforcement Academy@ Fort Stockton, workforce continuing education, risk management institute, truck driving transportation training and risk management institute. This college also offers workforce training in different roles present in the oil and gas business such as business and finance, engineering, geoscience, land, software training and well-site. In health sciences continuing education, there are CPR and phlebotomy
