Marion Military Institute is considered to be a Public Military Junior College, also known as Military College of Alabama. This college is based out of Marion, Alabama. This institute was established in 1842. Marion Military Institute is also the country’s oldest Military Junior College. It has been designated as the official State Military College of Alabama.

The institute is provided accreditation by the Commission of Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to provide Associate of Science and Associate of Arts degrees. In 1968, the US Army only commissioning program was established. The institute became coeducational in 1971.

The institute has delivered more than two hundred admirals and generals in the United States Armed Forces. The institute caters to varied athletic teams such as men’s basketball, golf, tennis, cross country and softball. The college’s athletics team is often referred to as the ‘tigers’ The institute provides for the SAP- the Service Academy Program in the freshman year for physical and academic preparation to the students who desire to attend any of the Service Academies in the United States. The institute also has provision for the first two years of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps and Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Course (PLC). The institute is spread over a vast area of 160 acres.
