Lewis Clark State College

Also known as LCSC, Lewis-Clark State College is an open undergraduate college situated at Lewiston, Idaho. The college was established in 1983 as a normal state school. In 1947, it became a college and later in 1965, the State Board of Education gave it the certification to run a four-year curriculum in education and liberal arts. In 1971, it became Lewis-Clark State College and received regional accreditation to provide a 4-year degree in 1973.

The university has an enrollment of more than 3,500 students coming from 30 different states and representing 30 different nationalities. The college provides over 130 degrees. It is known for its various programs including social work, criminal justice, education, and nursing. Apart from these, the college offers liberal arts and sciences, business, justice studies, teacher preparation, and career and technical education that lead to baccalaureate and associate degrees.

The college comes with more than 60 student clubs and organizations that include student government, campus programming counsel, campus newspaper and radio, special interest groups and intercultural groups. The college published a newspaper called ‘The Pathfinder’ and ‘KLCZ radio station’. In addition to these, the college athletic teams are known as Warriors. The teams have participated in intercollegiate athletics in the NAIA. The university offers a variety of sports including tennis, baseball, cross country, basketball, golf, volleyball and track, and field.

The university boasts of its alumni base with people working in leading organizations. Some of the alumni members are a part of the U.S government while some are known sports players. Notable alumni of the college include Marvin Benard (Ex-MLB player, San Francisco Giants), Vic Darensbourg (former MLB pitcher), Aprilynne Pike (New York Times best-selling author of young adult fiction), Steve Decker (ex-MLB player) and Mike Mitchell (ex-legislator, Senate of Idaho and House of Representatives).
