Also called Lawrence Tech or LTU, Lawrence Technological University is a private institution of higher education situated in Southfield, Michigan. Established in 1932, the university was originated from the Lawrence Institute of Technology. In 1955, the institution was shifted to Southfield to expand campus areas.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in various fields, including technology, science, arts, engineering, and mathematics fields. If offers academic facilities through its four colleges which include the College of Arts and Sciences, Architecture and Design, Business and Information Technology and Engineering. Students can opt from over a hundred different academic programs.
Moreover, the university has a total enrolment of around 4,500 students. With a faculty to student ratio of 1:12, there are around 400 full-time and part-time faculties at the university. Apart from academic facilities, the university provides extracurricular activities and leadership opportunities to the students. There are over 60 student organizations and clubs and a Student Government to represent all organizations at the institution.
Apart from this, the university has athletic teams referred to as the Blue Devils. The teams have participated in NAIA Division II. In 2012, they have participated in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference. There are a number of sports available at the university, including bowling, basketball, ice hockey, cross country, lacrosse and soccer, and volleyball.
Other than this, the university has successfully graduated thousands of students who are now contributing to different areas and sectors. It has an alumni association that maintains an active network of more than 35,000 alumni. Some of the notable graduates include Steven A. Ballmer (Ex-CEO of Microsoft and present Owner of the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers), John DeLorean (Founder of DeLorean Motor Company), Harvey Ferrero (American Architect and Founder of Ferrero Architects), Alfred Taubman (Top Real-estate Developer and Owner of Sotheby’s Auctioneers) and Lewis Veraldi (Father of original Ford Taurus and Sable).
