Indiana State University is an age-old public university, serving students since 1865. The institution has been recognized and classified by Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, as a Research/Doctoral University. Since 1915, Indiana State University has been accredited to Higher Learning Commission.
The main campus adjoins the north side of Terre Haute’s downtown business district and covers more than 200 acres in the heart of the city. Varsity soccer, track & field, and baseball fields are located within a mile of the main campus along the Wabash River.
It is a multi-disciplinary institution, conducting over 100 undergraduate major programs and more than 75 graduate and professional programs. There are non-degree programs including certificate courses and licensures, are also conducted in this institution. The basic academic departments that are dealt with include Business Programmes; Criminology; Engineering and Technology; Liberal Arts and Sciences; Education, etc.
The overall infrastructure of the university is commendable. The exclusive teaching methods exercised here are highly student-friendly. The audio-visual aided classrooms and auditoriums, highly respected and eminent stalwart faculty, educational trips, frequent interactive sessions with the students through seminars, conferences, hands-on training programs, all these factors, collectively contribute to an enriched learning experience for the students. Presently, It has more than 12000 students. Other than this, I.S.U. is known to provide several financial aids and scholarships for its students, irrespective of their nationality.
The campus provides several counseling centers, restaurants, sports, and recreation centers for the overall development of its students. Not only in academics, the institution strongly supports and promotes several extra-curricular activities, especially sports.
