Grand Valley State University is a public institution that was established in 1960. It uses a semester-based scholastic schedule. It is located just outside the Grand Rapids zone, Michigan’s second-biggest metropolitan locale. In spite of the fact that it is one of America’s 100 biggest universities in terms of enrollment, Grand Valley endeavors to make liberal education its foundation for all of its academic programs.

Freshmen are presented more than 400 student organizations during an occasion called ‘Grounds Life Night,’ which permits students to explore the numerous choices for extracurricular exercises. Around 5 percent of the undergraduate community participates in Greek life, and there are more than 20 sections to choose from. The Grand Valley State Lakers are members of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in the NCAA Division II. The athletic excellence of the university is unheralded, and it has won the Director’s Cup multiple times in its history as the best NCAA Division II athletic program in the country. The most popular majors at Grand Valley State University include Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services; Health Professions and Related Programs; Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs; Psychology; and Parks, Recreation, Leisure, and Fitness Studies. The average freshman retention rate, an indicator of student satisfaction, is 84 percent.

The university consists of eight degree-granting colleges: F.E. Seidman College of Business, College of Community and Public Services, College of Education, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Seymour and Esther Padnos College of Engineering and Computing, College of Health Professions, Kirkhof College of Nursing and Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies. Grand Valley has a wide variety of scholarships accessible to new and returning students. It offers 400+ endowed and department scholarships. These grants differ and might be based on interests, academic performance, special talents, or majors. A considerable number of these grants are made available through generous donations. There is a wide variety of merit-based awards for incoming freshman and first time Grand Valley students. Most require high academic accomplishment and are automatically granted to candidates based on the information provided in the student’s admission application.
