Established in 1906, Georgia Southwestern State University is situated in Americus, Georgia. It is a public university that offers bachelor’s degree programs, selected master’s, and specialized degree programs. It is a member of the University System of Georgia, which includes 35 public institutions such as itself and thus claims to be one of the best educational hubs in the United States of America. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The James Earl Carter Library was completed in 1971 and named in honor of President Jimmy Carter’s father. It contains over 190,000 volumes and currently subscribes to 234 journals. The library also has a small multimedia collection that includes LPs, videotapes, audiotapes, CDs, DVDs, and software. The university also provides distance learning programs that can help the students who have had trouble with managing multiple jobs and their education or are currently pursuing a career but still want to keep their education on their fingertips.
This University provides a wide variety of sports activities for the students to keep in shape and stay active for this ever-evolving world. It involves several different sports available for both men and women. Men’s games include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, and esports. Women’s sports include basketball, cross country, softball, tennis, and soccer. Along with helping its students to become better and well-skilled individuals, this University also has a vast range of scholarships to aid its brilliant students financially, which include Beginning Freshman Scholarships, Continuing Student Scholarships, HOPE Scholarship, private scholarships, foundation scholarships, and Hispanic scholarships.
