Formerly known as the Chamberlain College of Nursing, Chamberlain University is a highly-ranked institution of higher education and training in nursing and health care in the United States. Originally established as the Deaconess Central Hospital in the year 1889, the institution became the Deaconess School of Nursing in 1943. It evolved into the Chamberlain College of Nursing in the year 2005 after it came under the aid of the Adtalem Global Education, Inc. The institution holds accreditations from the Higher Learning Commission under the Department of Education (U.S.) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Chamberlain University has its main campus at Highland Parkway in the rural neighborhood of Downers Grove. Also, its three other campuses are located in Addison, Chicago and Tinley Park, Illinois. The university also operates 18 other educational sites in other states of the country including four in Texas (Houston, Irving, Pearland, and San Antonio), two in Florida (Miramar and Jacksonville) and two in Ohio (Columbus and Cleveland). Other educational sites are based in Arizona (Phoenix), North Carolina (Charlotte), New Jersey (North Brunswick), Nevada (Las Vegas), Virginia (Tysons Corner), Missouri (St. Louis), Michigan (Troy), Louisiana (New Orleans), California (Sacramento), Georgia (Atlanta) and Indiana (Indianapolis).

The university comprises two academic colleges that offer degree programs in nursing, health care, public health, and social work at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. It also offers certificate courses in nursing education and leadership, health care policy, leadership foundations, family nursing practitioner, public health and nursing informatics. Additionally, it gives working professionals the flexibility of earning a qualification through its online RN to BSN programs along with enhancing their skills and knowledge. These courses include 100% online coursework and have no mandatory login times. For any academic help, students can access the online library and various tutoring services. Students get 77 proficiency credits before even beginning the courses.
