Founded in 1967, California State University, Fullerton is a public university in Fullerton, California. The university has the largest student body of the 23-campus California State University (CSU) system and currently holds the accreditation of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
Situated in northeast Fullerton along the Orange Freeway, the university’s campus is spread across 240 acres. The campus has a number of modern academic and recreational buildings and offers world-class facilities to the students.
The California State University Fullertonacademic departments and programs are organized into four Liberal Arts colleges, viz. College of the Arts, Colleges of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, College of Communications and four vocational colleges, College of Engineering and Computer Science, College of Health and Human Development, Steven Mihaylo College of Business and Economics and College of Education.
The eight colleges offer 109 degrees: 57 bachelor’s degrees and 52 graduate degrees, including three doctorates, along with numerous certificate and credential programs in an array of fields like arts, music, theatre, business, economics, communication, advertising, journalism, education, engineering, computer science, health, psychology, science, etc.
The university houses around 41,408 students including more than 1,266 foreign students from across 77 countries and more than 4,000 staff and faculty members (2020). The Titan Student Union features a huge pavilion, food court, small theatre, pub, conference rooms, and a bowling alley. The five-storey University Hall includes faculty offices, spacious classrooms, and student support services.
The Titan Sports Complex houses Titan Stadium, tennis and track courts, and baseball pavilion. The campus also features four-storey George Pollak Library and Dan Black Hall, a two-story science lab. The two-level Student Recreation Centre includes a rock climbing wall, cardio/weight rooms, a gymnasium, an outdoor pool, and an indoor track.
The university has partnerships with many community support groups like the President’s Associates, Art Alliance, Emeriti, MAMM Alliance for the Performing Arts, Patrons of the Library, Music Associates, Reading Educators Guild, etc. It also has collaborations with numerous academic institutions, industrial bodies and top employers that support the advancement of the students.
The university has over 2,74,500 alumni including numerous notable people. Gwen Stefani is a 3-time Emmy Award-winning singer and the lead vocalist in the band ‘No Doubt’. Tracy Caldwell Dyson is a NASA astronaut who has made two trips to space. Kevin Costner is a famous actor known for starring in The Untouchables, Dances with Wolves, Bull Durham and Hatfields & McCoys. Kim Krizan is an author and an actor known for writing the ‘Before’ series and for starring in ‘Dazed and Confused’. Marc Cherry is a successful television writer who has created the popular TV series ‘Desperate Housewives’. Ashley Force Hood used to be a drag racer for John Force Racing. Many other distinguished personalities were produced by the university.
