Established in 2005, California Miramar University (CMU) is a private institution for higher education in San Diego County of California. Later that year the university purchased the assets of the Pacific Western University. In 2007, the university filed for accreditations to the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). The university has academic recognition under section 94890 of the 2009 California Private Postsecondary Education Act.
California Miramar University has its main campus along the Camino Del Rio North in San Diego city. The university also operates a small satellite campus in Montebello. CMU’s postgraduate programs in business administration (MBA) focus on six major areas of business, including finance, marketing, international business, strategic leadership and management in global business, healthcare management, and technology management. Apart from this, California Miramar University extends Master of Science degrees in computer information systems. CMU also renders various hybrid options, which include both online and classroom learning for working professionals. The university has athletic teams of basketball, soccer, baseball, and softball, who participate in various intercollegiate events and competitions under the mascot name Fighting Falcons.
