California Maritime Academy, also famed as CSU Maritime Academy or Cal Maritime, is a public university located in Vallejo, California. It is one of the 23 campuses in the CSU system and is known to be the only Maritime Academy on the West Coast of the United States. Originally founded in the year 1929, the academy has a specialized and unique campus serving 1051 students. The waterside campus on San Francisco’s northern end is located in a quiet cove facing the ocean. One of the best features of the campus is its annual training cruise on a 500ft tall giant training ship. The ship features a laboratory/classroom where different concepts in maritime engineering, technology, and transportation are applied and practised. Study-abroad trips sponsored by the school provide students pursuing logistics, international business, maritime policy and maritime security with first-hand exposure to these practices in various places around the world. The one-of-a-kind Cal Maritime Program merges classroom training with leadership development, global awareness, and applied technology.
California Maritime University has the School of Engineering, School of Letters and Sciences, and School of Transportation, Logistics & Management under its name.
