Established in 1897, Bradley University is a private institution that was accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It was earlier known as the Bradley Polytechnic Institute. In 1946, the institute was renamed to its current name. The university began its classes in the Bradley Hall with 14 faculty members and 150 students. By 1899, the number of enrolments at the institute increased to 500 students and a number of subjects were to the academic structure.
In 1940, the university initiated the four-year collegial program. The first music building at the university was developed in 1930. The university comprises six undergraduate colleges and five graduate colleges. In addition, the university offers several scholarships to the students with a good academic record and performance in the qualifying examination. It also provides financial support for the students in the form of work, study, grants, and loans.
The university campus is spread over an area of 84 acres. It offers housing facilities to the students. The students are provided with all the facilities required at the campus. They experience a calm learning environment. The campus features the College of Education & Health Sciences, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, College of Engineering & Technology, Foster College of Business and College of Communications & Fine Arts.
There are a total of six residence halls, namely Harper Hall, Geisert Hall, Williams Hall, Wyckoff Hall, Heitz Hall and Bradley Hall which was among the first buildings to have been developed on the campus. The campus also features a Dingeldine Music Centre where all the practice and performances take place. Besides the hostels, students can also stay at the single dormitories and student apartments on the campus. Moreover, the university houses the National Public Radio of Peoria (WCBU-FM).
The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs. As per a record, the university has a total of 1,500 students. It offers over 185 graduate programs in various fields like communications, business, engineering, education, health sciences, fine arts, liberal arts, and technology. The students are taught under experienced faculty members. They also get a chance to visit many companies for internships. The university has some additional streams like chemistry, biology, history, food work, sewing, physic, manual arts, mathematics, as well as language courses such as English, German, Greek, and Latin.
