Azusa Pacific University

Established in 1899, Azusa Pacific University (APU) is a highly-ranked private institution of higher education in California, United States. Originally set up in Whittier, the institution officially began classes with 12 students in 1900 as the Training School for Christian Workers. Its name was changed to Pacific Bible College in 1939, followed by yet another name change in 1956 with the institution becoming the Azusa College. The college merged with the Los Angeles Pacific College in 1965 and Arlington College in 1968. It was in the year 1981 that the college transformed into a university and obtained the degree-granting powers under its current name. It has accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and affiliations from the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, Council for Christian Colleges and Universities and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

APU has a beautiful 100-acre main campus in San Gabriel Valley categorised as the East Campus and the West Campus. Apart from this, the university maintains two regional learning centres in Monrovia and Los Angeles as well as five campus locations across Southern California. Each of the sites features state-of-the-art academic, recreational and support facilities to ensure an excellent learning experience for the students. Additionally, the students have access to free internet across the campus.

East Campus is home to all the major administrative offices, academic facilities, residence halls, student centre and a gymnasium. The Wynn Academic Centre on this campus houses a 1,800 sq. ft lecture hall, conference room, computer lab, library, presentation hall, two focus rooms and 11 classrooms. The West Campus has the facilities of the schools of education, behavioural and applied sciences, nursing and theology. The site has an academic complex, event centre, player hall and two libraries. Completed in 2009, the Segerstrom Science Centre on the West Campus features a research centre, lecture hall, classrooms, laboratories, faculty offices, community areas, electron microscope and nuclear magnetic resonance rooms.

APU comprises six schools and three colleges that offer more than 80 educational programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The students can pursue their degrees in various disciplines of arts, business, humanities, communication, education, health sciences, political science, theology, social work, science and mathematics. It also extends a range of credentials and certificate courses for professionals to beef up their resume along with enhancing their knowledge and skills. At present, the total student enrolment at APU is over 10,095. The staff of the university includes 1,235 academic affiliates and 1,062 administrative officers. Besides, the helping staff of the university is extremely responsible and extends all the possible help and support.

APU has a vast alumni network of graduates living across the globe and working at high posts in their organisations.
