Andrews University is a private Seventh-day Adventist university in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Mr. Goodloe Bell, an educator began a small school with just 12 students in Battle Creek, Michigan. This was the introduction of what is presently known as Andrews University. Today, Andrews is the most popular Adventist education foundation in the world. It is named after John Nevins Andrews (1829–1883), the greatest scholar in the 19th century Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The university is comprised of 10 schools, 4 colleges, and the seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, offering 94 undergraduate programs and 67 graduate programs. Post-baccalaureate degrees are supervised by the School of Graduate Studies and off-campus/online programs are coordinated through the College of Education & International Services.
The School of Education offers bachelor’s degree (BA, BS), master’s degree (MA, MAT), education specialist (EdS), and doctoral (EdD, Ph.D.) programs in thirty-one unique programs of education. Likewise housed within the school is the university’s leadership program which offers advanced education in different disciplines of leadership. The university also has an undergrad program in leadership, which presently grants certificates rather than degrees. School of Health Professions includes all of the health-related sciences subjects. It involves the departments of Nursing, Physical Therapy, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, and Public Health, Nutrition, and Wellness.
Understudy Missionary/Taskforce Volunteer Scholarship is offered to an undergrad student who has served as a Student Missionary or Taskforce Volunteer and selects a full-time program at Andrews University the year following the year of service. The $1,500 grant is a one-year offer divided over two semesters. Also, Selected students are offered, by their school, a named grant dependent on academic performance, declared major and career goals.
