The Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College, located in Berkeley, was formerly referred to as Meiji College of Oriental Medicine (MCOM). In San Francisco, it was established by the Meiji School of Oriental Medicine in Japan and its alumni in the year 1990. It was in the year 1999 that the school got relocated to Berkeley to provide its students with a better educational environment featured through high-quality facilities. In April 2003, the name of the institution was changed to Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College. Of-late, the college offers a range of degree programmes for the students to choose from. Also, it continues to develop its professional affiliations and programmes.
The campus of the college is well-equipped with all the services needed to facilitate an engaging and growing environment of learning. The Student Services department of the college is there to assure students, an experience of convenience. The department works closely with the college’s student groups not to enhance the campus life and make it more interactive but also to maintain connections with alumni for better support and networking opportunities.
Several master and doctorate level programmes are offered by the college in different areas of study. Acupuncture, Herbology, Oriental Medicine, Biomedicine, Integrative Medicine and Professional Practice are the different areas of study in which master level programmes are offered by the institution. The college’s Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) programme is specifically designed for future acupuncturists who wish to practice Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with an emphasis on integrative medicine. The doctoral-level competencies, at the institution, enable the graduates of the programme to utilise the scope of practice of a California licensed acupuncturist. The role includes offering effective nutrition advice, interpreting labs and diagnostic imaging along with incorporating research, scholarship and functional medicine into clinical practice. Additionally, the college offers both CAB and NCCAOM approved Continuing Education courses, certificate programmes in the U.S. & abroad along with community workshops.
