  • The MS in Chemical Engineering at UIC is designed to provide all students with advanced knowledge of chemical engineering while allowing each student to make certain choices that customize the program for his or her specific needs—in particular, selecting among a coursework-only option, a project option, and a full thesis option
  • MS students learn about core subjects in chemical engineering such as continuum and molecular fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, macroscopic and microscopic thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, and process analysis
  • The knowledge and skills acquired in our MS program can be applied to energy production and utilization, material properties under extreme conditions, biologically-based processes, and the environment, among other fields

  • Applicants with undergraduate degrees outside of engineering may be admitted on limited standing.
  • Applicants must have least 3.00/4.00 for the final 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of undergraduate study
  • In exceptional cases, applicants with averages below 3.00 but above 2.75 may be admitted on limited standing if they show evidence of substantial ability to complete the program successfully
