- Applicants must have an Honours degree, or overseas equivalent, or professional experience demonstrating the ability to study at Masters level
- Experience of student journalism, a media work placement, freelance work or professional journalism is desirable
- University will look for a first-class undergraduate degree (approx 60%) from a recognized Indian institution. Applicants with 55% from the University of Mumbai, University of Calcutta, University of Delhi, IITs, and IIMs, etc will also be accepted
