  • This course prepare for a successful career in risk management, asset management, or corporate finance.
  • The Master of Science in Finance program will provide with specialized knowledge of financial securities, financial markets, risk metrics, investment criteria, capital budgeting techniques and hedging strategies.
  • Students will also have general modeling and analytical skills, including the ability to write computer programs, work with databases, simulate outcomes, perform regression analysis, and solve constrained optimization problems.
  • Completion of the Master of Science in Finance degree requires 12 courses, with additional prerequisite courses depending on academic background.
  • There are certain prerequisites: 
    • Calculus: MATH 131, MATH 161, or equivalent
    • Principles of Micro/Macroeconomics: ECON 420, ECON 201, ECON 202, or equivalent 
    • Statistics: ISSCM 491, ISSCM 241, STAT 103, STAT 203, or equivalent
    • Introductory Accounting: ACCT 400, ACCT 201, or equivalent
    • Business Finance: FINC 450, FINC 334, or equivalent

  • GMAT/GRE waiver requests will be considered for the following:

    • Applicants who hold a graduate degree and/or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA, CMA, CIA, or CFP) with evidence of significant quantitative course work and a minimum of 3.2 cumulative GPA.
    • Applicants who hold a BBA, BSBA, or BA in economics from an AACSB-accredited school, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
    • For MBA applicants, a minimum of 7 years of full-time, progressive, and professional work experience that entails a significant scope of responsibility and employs in-depth quantitative and analytic skills.
    • For Master of Science in Marketing, 3-5 years of full-time, progressive, and professional work experience in a role that requires use of marketing and communication skills.
    • For other Master of Science applicants, a minimum of 5 years of full-time, progressive, and professional work experience in a relevant field that requires in-depth quantitative and analytic skills.
  • ELP requirement is waived for those who have completed a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree program or those who are citizens of or have completed a bachelor's degree at a recognized institution at which the language of instruction is English in these countries: Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand.
