  • Registered nurse holding CPR certification at the Basic Rescuer or Basic Cardiac Life Support or 'C' level
  • A four-year baccalaureate degree, normally in nursing, along with:
    • One undergraduate course in research methodology
    • One undergraduate course in statistics
  • A minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 point system, over the past two years of full-time study (a minimum of 10 full-course equivalents or 60 units) of the undergraduate degree
  • Registered Nurses must be eligible for active nursing registration in Alberta (registrants in the program must provide proof of active CARNA registration or equivalent each year); Registered Psychiatric Nurses are expected to provide proof of active registration with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA) or equivalent each year

  • A Graduate Program Director may exempt an applicant whose first language is not English from the ELP requirement if they meet the following criteria:
    • The student has completed one of the following degrees in an institution where the sole language of instruction and examination is English:
      • a Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of 3 years in length), or  
      • a Graduate Degree
    • Eligible institutions must be listed as providing English language instruction in the World Higher Education Database (WHED)
  • Have an interview(s) with a faculty member, if requested by the Faculty
