The Master of Human-Computer Interaction and Design is offered by four departments: Computer Science & Engineering, Human-Centered Design and Engineering, the Information School and Division of Design in the School of Art + Art History + Design, along with faculty from other UW departments
This unique, cross-disciplinary approach seeks to educate a new generation of designers, engineers and researchers who can successfully combine the creative aspects of design and the study of human behavior with the analytical techniques of engineering
Students will work on the design and development of new products or services and discover design opportunities based on quantitative and qualitative data acquired from users
Students study courses such as Introduction to HCI: User Interface Design, Prototyping, and Evaluation; Adv. HCI: Adv. User Interface Design, Prototyping, & Evaluation; Data Visualization; Advanced Topics in Human-Computer Interaction; Advanced Industrial Design; Advanced Interaction Design; etc

Bachelors	3.2 GPA Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States, or its equivalent from a foreign institution A minimum 3.2 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale)
Exams	TOEFL: 106 With a speaking subscore of at least 26
Additional info	Applicants with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in another country with verification that the language of instruction was entirely in English can qualify for English language waiver
