Teaching and research areas in artificial intelligence, software engineering, networks and security, high-performance computing, distributed systems, bioinformatics, computer vision, big data, and human-computer interaction
The Master of Computer Science degree is a professional (non-research) degree consisting of coursework only
This degree is intended for students desiring an advanced credential in computer science to enhance their technical abilities and knowledge of state-of-the-art computer science principles to apply as software engineers in organizational settings (industry, government, etc.)
A total of 35 semester hours in lecture and laboratory courses are required for graduation. At least 20 of these credits must be in computer sciences courses at the 500-level or above (graduate-level courses)

Bachelors	3.0 GPA Students applying to the M.C.S. program should have a working knowledge of computer science and mathematics, including, at a minimum: Calculus, Statistics, Linear Algebra, and Discrete Mathematics Computer Programming in an object-oriented language Data Structures and Algorithms Computer Organization/Architecture Software Engineering Methodology Operating System Design Concepts At least a 3.0 (A=4.0) undergraduate Grade Point Average is required. Normally students with less than a 3.0 undergraduate GPA will not be admitted to the program An exception to this rule are students who have earned their bachelor’s degrees many years ago, and who have accumulated considerable computer science related work experience in the intervening years Depending on the nature of the work, such students may be invited to apply despite their low undergraduate GPAs
