  • The Master of Applied Finance (Investing) is for students interested in acquiring an advanced understanding of investment and portfolio management
  • Students will study the theory and practice of financial management and gain an understanding of the global financial system. Additionally, competing approaches to corporate governance and business ethics will be developed, and they will learn how to provide protection against portfolio, financial and corporate risks
  • Students are provided with realistic stock market simulations and are introduced to modern portfolio theory and practice with a focus on optimal investment decision-making
  • Students will experience the pressure of live markets and learn how to manage portfolios through a portfolio simulation that allows them to trade shares, options, bonds, managed funds, international stocks with realistic stock market simulations

  • Applicants must hold a recognized Bachelors's degree in a Commerce, Engineering, Maths or IT related major or a UOW Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance
  • Applicants with other relevant tertiary qualifications and/ or substantial relevant professional of managerial experience will also be considered for entry
  • The degree is targeted at students who have a bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Maths, or IT, if students do not have an academic background in these areas, students should consider studying a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance
ExamsTOEFL: 86
  • With a minimum score of 18 in Reading & Writing and 17 in Listening & Speaking

IELTS: 6.5
  • With a minimum score of 6 in each skill

PTE: 62
  • With a minimum score of 54 in each skill

  • Students who have an offer for this course and hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance may be granted credit for up to 24 cp (4 core subjects)
  • Due to the current impacts of COVID-19 on in-person testing centers, UOW is accepting Alternative English tests for entry into Autumn 2021 and Trimester 1 2021. The requirements for accepting these tests are:
    • If standard testing is available in the applicant's country, applicants must use one of these tests
    • If the standard tests are not available (or only partially available) in the applicant's country due to COVID-19 restrictions, UOW will accept
      • Online IELTS Indicator or
      • Online TOEFL IBT at Home
