- This course will give students the opportunity to explore responses to security challenges within a dynamic framework of politics, law and ethics
- The programme will allow students to understand conflict and security as a policy challenge and to recognise the increasing degree of interdependence between states in governing this area of international relations
- The programme will be particularly suited to those looking for careers in international organisations, government, media or academia
- Students will be able to investigate key developments in international conflict and security, and responses to them
- Students will also have the opportunity to study different types of war and conflict, including inter-state war, intra-state wars (ethnic or civil conflict, independence movements, new wars and complex emergencies) and international terrorism; as well as political, institutional and legal tools and frameworks to address them
- The programme is comprised of four core modules and an independent guided piece of research in the form of a dissertation
