Bachelors3.0 GPA
  • Applicants must have a four-year bachelor's degree, although not necessarily in computer science, with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Applicants must have basic knowledge of discrete mathematics, linear algebra, probability, statistics, relational databases, and some programming such as Matlab, C++, Java, Python, or Ruby
  • Applicants lacking prerequisite coursework but who are otherwise strong candidates (i.e., with relevant work experience) may be admitted, but these applicants would be required to make up any needed coursework
  • Applicants must have completed the equivalent of the following fundamental undergraduate coursework to begin the Master of Data Science degree program:
    • Computer Science:
      • Accelerated Introduction to Computer Science
      • Introduction to Advanced Studies 
    • Knowledge of any high-level programming language, such as C or Python, as well as object-oriented programming, can be substituted for knowledge of C++ or Java
    • Mathematics:
      • Calculus 
      • Elementary Linear Algebra
      • Probability and Statistics

Additional info
  • During the admission process, Illinois Tech waives TOEFL or IELTS requirements if the applicants:
    • first or native language is English
    • have received a degree from an English-speaking institution and have attended that school for at least two years
    • school’s official medium of instruction is in English, per transcripts
